Seddon @ the Movies

Our area has been the backdrop for film and TV over the years.

The most recent was an independent release by Seddon film-maker Lee Galae entitled "Less Adolescent" (2009) which tells the story of a teenager who, after losing his mother, "finds himself trying to comprehend his world around him and the secrets that lie within it".

1991 saw the release of "Spotswood" starring Anthony Hopkins who played a corporate hatchet-man charged with getting an antiquated moccasin factory (external set at the Scienceworks Pumping Station*) back on track.  The Seddon shops featured in the scene where upstart sales rep Russell Crowe shows Hopkins a company window display in the (then-genuine) shoe shop, now Alfami Cafe in Charles St.  The Seddon name also mentioned by Collette in the night-time factory roof top scene.

The movie also featured the likes of Noah Taylor and Toni Collette.  These and ol' Russ have certainly kicked on internationally since then.  Interesting to note that this was Hopkins' first role after 'Silence of the Lambs'.
